The Bears O Line improved in 2005

Once Rex went down in pre season it was obvious that our passing game would struggle. We had seen it the year before where Hutchison, Krenzel and Quinn had fouled up any good work the defense and running game did. We also saw that there wasnt any decent depth because injuries really affected us. 6 wins in 2004 was astounding without any sort of offense. With the signings of John Tait, Fred Miller and Roberto Guarza quality in depth was a lot better.

In a one dimensional offense running is difficult because the opponents know that they can put 8 men into the box. Despite this the Bears offense had 233 first downs and a total of 2099 rushing yards in the regular season which in terms of yardage is 8th in the NFL.. Only 31 sacks were allowed which when you think about it with a rookie QB thats pretty damn good, the Chargers and Skins had gave up the same amount of sacks. Its a shame that we didnt really have a good QB behind Olin Kreutz to take our passing game above dire (2nd worst in the league).

"O-line has improved 100% under Harry Hiestand, never coached in the NFL before joining Da Bears in 2005 and brought fundamentals back to a veteran group." AdiBear Voting thread 24-01-06

"The O line had to do it all by themselves against all comers week in and week out to keep us in the game.." Midway Monster Voting thread 24-01-06
